15.08.2012 - Independence Day Celebrations

Independence Day was celebrated in Chennai I & III Commissionerates today. The National Flag was hoisted by Shri. K. Chandra Sekhar, IRS., Commissioner of Central Excise, Chennai - I Commissionerate at 08.00 AM at No.26 N.H. Road, Chennai-34 and the Commissioner took the Guard of honour given by the uniformed officers of the Central Excise, Chennai I and III Commissionerates. The Ceremony was attended by all the officers and staff of Central Excise, Chennai I & III Commissionerate.

COMMISSIONER'S SPEECH:

 

         Shri. K. Chandra Sekhar, Commissioner of Central Excise, Chennai I Commissionerate welcomed all the officers of Group A, B, & C, and family members of the staff, friends & relatives on the occasion of the Independence Day.

          The Commissioner stated that the Independence day is an occasion to remember the great sacrifices made by the leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Nehru,  Lala Lajpat Rai and also brave citizens  who sacrificed their lives and career for the freedom of our country.  He stated that we should remember that we are enjoying the fruits of the sacrifices made by them.

He further stated that, all these decades since independence, our country has made immense progress in various spheres such as science and technology, education, etc.  He stated that still a lot is required to be done in the areas of poverty, illiteracy, health service and employment. He further dealt with about the significant role played by custom and Central Excise department, in the area of mobilization / collection of indirect taxes.  The revenue income so generated is being utilized for the implementation of many welfare schemes and creation of infrastructure in the country.

             He stated that the implementation of the sixth pay commission has done a lot to improve the living condition as well as the service condition of the departmental employees. The commissioner has stated that Officers of the Department are second to none in efficiently discharging the duty. . He stressed that on this occasion we should take the opportunity to re-dedicate ourselves to perform our duties upto the expectations and to achieve one’s potential, be it in whatever section/areas of work such as adjudication, anti-evasion, audit, Division or Range.  He further stated that we need to be more dedicated and hard working which will definitely benefit in the longer run   for the betterment of our future generation.         

              He urged everyone to resolve to do their best for ensuring a bright future for our country on this august occasion.
